(ANS - Rome) - From 27 to 31 March, at the Salesian Central Office, the "World Consulta" was held on Social Works and Services for young people at risk and in situations of exclusion. The Consulta, or World Consultive Body, is an initiative of the Rector Major and the General Council, which responds to the indications of the 27th General Chapter, and is one of the stages envisaged in the Animation and Government Plan 2014-2020. The Acts of the Consultation were delivered on the 8th October 2019.

(ANS - Rome) - Being "good news press" so as to continue promoting freedom and respect for the essential values of life, family and education; with this purpose, the Past Pupils of Don Bosco begin the celebrations for the centenary of the magazine "Voci Fraterne". Published for the first time in June 1920, the magazine is the official journal of the Italian Federation of Past Pupils of Don Bosco, and over the years has become increasingly a tool to spread not only news related to activities in local centers from across the peninsula, but above all, a vehicle to provide society with all those ideas for ongoing formation so beloved by Don Bosco and recommended to his children who have worked over the years as "good Christians and upright citizens".
(ANS - Rome) - 100 years of activity always constitute an anniversary worthy of being celebrated on a large scale: and what could be better than inviting the Rector Major, the "Don Bosco of today", to celebrate the centenary of a Province? It is precisely for this reason that from today, October 18, and until Sunday the 20th, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime is on an Animation Visit to Warsaw to pay tribute to the service rendered by his Polish confreres in the Province dedicated to “St. Stanislao Kostka ”(PLE) over the past 100 years.
(ANS – Rome) – A group of 17 Salesians from all over the world met 11-12 October 2019 at Sacro Cuore, Rome, to plan a “School of Spiritual Accompaniment” to be offered to the Congregation and perhaps also to the Salesian Family.
Rome, Italy - October 2019 - On 14 October, at the Salesian Central Office in Rome, the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, received a visit from the Salesian Cardinal Óscar Rodríguez Maradiaga, Archbishop of Tegucigalpa, together with the Ambassador of Panama to the Holy See, Miroslava Rosas Vargas; the Ambassador of Honduras to the Holy See; Carlos Ávila Molina, and the diplomatic staff. Also present were the bishop of Sakania-Kipushi, Msgr. Gaston Ruvezi, SDB, the Secretary of the Rector Major, Fr Horacio López, and the Director of the Salesian Central Office in Rome, Fr Jean-Claude Ngoy.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Spain – 33rd Edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature: Here Are the Winners
(ANS – Madrid) – The 33rd edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature has been awarded to Beatriz Giménez de Ory (Madrid, 1972) for her novel Tres niños tristes y medio unicornio (Three Sad Children and Half a Unicorn) and David Lozano (Zaragoza, 1974) for his novel La cacería (The Hunt).

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
