In fact, between 2010 and 2013, the Youth Ministry Dicastery organized a series of four seminars on the theme of spiritual direction. The proceedings of this series of seminars were then collected in the publication "Spiritual accompaniment. Spiritual pedagogical itinerary in a Salesian key at the service of young people."
Furthermore, in 2016 the Dicastery itself promoted a study seminar entitled "Accompanying the life of prayer."
In the light of the indications coming from the Synods on the family and on young people, and of the reflections promoted by the Congregation with the International Congress on Youth Ministry and Family, the next Study Seminar will look at the accompaniment of young people with reference to the theme of affectivity and education to love.
The Seminar is addressed to Salesians and lay people involved in the personal accompaniment of young people and to those who have a concrete experience in the education of affectivity of young people in Salesian Youth Ministry. The meeting will be divided into four modules: study of the anthropological, cultural and social challenges in the field of education to love; characteristics of the person who accompanies young people on the path of education to love and in discernment; the affective challenges that young people encounter today in their journey of integral growth; the contribution of the Salesian charism in the processes of education to love, starting from the study of the sources on St. Francis de Sales.
Each day shall be dedicated to studying a module in depth. Every morning a lectio divina and a main report on the topic will be offered, with an appropriate time for personal reflection and discussion in linguistic groups. In the first afternoon session of each day, participants will be able to present the fruits of their discussion in the work groups and dialogue with the speakers of the Seminar. The last session of each day will be dedicated to the deepening, in a workshop format and under the guidance of experts, of several specific themes in line with the objectives of the Seminar: homosexuality and "gender" theory, affectivity and family, integral sex education, "transformative learning".
The proposed methodology intends to favor and foster the active involvement of participants and the production of support material for the reflection and education of young people with reference to the themes of affectivity and love.
The Youth Ministry Dicastery is able to offer participation in the Seminar. For accommodations in Rome, participants must make their own arrangements.
