Catania, Italy - January 2023 - The relic of Blessed Judge Rosario Livatino stopped in Catania on January 27 and 28. The initiative was promoted by the Salesian Province of Sicily (ISI), led by Fr. Giovanni D'Andrea, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Catania and "Salesians for the Social APS." The eventful two-day event opened in the morning of Jan. 27 with the reception of the relic at the "San Francesco di Sales" Institute in Cibali, accompanied by a meeting with numerous students from schools in the province of Catania. Afterward, the church remained open all afternoon for the veneration of the relic, while in the theater the Rector Major's Strenna 2023 was presented, and Dr. Luisa Turco, judge of the Juvenile Court of Caltanissetta, who knew Livatino, offered her testimony. The first day ended with a prayer vigil animated by the youth sector of Catholic Action of Catania. On January 28, students from the "St. Francis de Sales" Institute participated in a formative moment dedicated to the figure of the Blessed judge. Then, in the Don Bosco theater, a meeting was held on youth protagonist, and the beauty of legality and participatory citizenship, following the example of Judge Livatino, with volunteers from the Universal Civil Service of the Salesians of Sicily, volunteers from the Civil Service of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and students from Catania's higher education institutes. Finally, in the afternoon, a celebration of all the oratories and youth centers of the Archdiocese of Catania was held at the Salesian Oratory in Cibali.
Turin, Italy - January 2023 - This year the Salesian house in Turin Crocetta is celebrating an important anniversary: one hundred years since its foundation, under Fr. Filippo Rinaldi, who opened the Theological Studentate and a small oratory there on Sept. 8, 1923. The celebrations began on Sunday, January 29, close to the feast of Don Bosco, with Mass presided over by Fr. Stefano Martoglio, Vicar of the Rector Major and a former student of the Studentate. Fr. Martoglio invited us to celebrate this centenary not for dreams of glory, but with the gratitude of those who know they owe everything to God; and not to boast illustrious alumni, but to rejoice in all those who, trained here, live their daily apostolate, often hidden. The thanks to God, the Good Shepherd who cares for the poor and the little ones, was extended to the local realities that live this house: the youth of the oratory, the Scout group "TO24," the Crocetta Basketball team, the faithful of the "Mary Help of Christians" Church, and the many benefactors who in many ways support Don Bosco's dream in the Crocetta neighborhood.
