(ANS – Hong Kong) – As Pope Francis asked in his encyclical Laudato Si’, “what need does the earth have of us?” (Pope Francis, Laudato Si’,  no. 160) Several students from Aberdeen Technical School, full of creativity and environmental awareness, developed a “PET Recycling Machine” with the support of their school, responded to the Pope’s invitation with ingenuity.

(ANS – Mumbai) – The Salesian Province of St. Francis Xavier, Mumbai (INB), carries forward the legacy of Don Bosco with vibrant energy and contextual relevance across western India. Since its canonical erection on January 31, 1972, the province has grown into a robust network of educational institutions, technical centers, social outreach works, youth ministries, and mission frontiers, all grounded in the Salesian charism of working “for the young, especially the poor and the abandoned.”

(ANS – Rome) – In July 1890, the first Salesian priest, Fr. Giacomo Costamagna, arrived in Bolivia. He was the Provincial of the Salesian houses in Argentina and had been entrusted by Msgr. Giovanni Cagliero—leader of the first Salesian Missionary Expedition in 1875 and the first bishop of the Congregation as Apostolic Vicar of Northern Patagonia—with a broad mandate: to visit Salesian schools in Chile and Ecuador, manage a new foundation in Lima, Peru, and establish a Salesian presence in Bolivia, particularly in Sucre, where former President Gregorio Pacheco wished for a Salesian house to be founded.

(ANS – Paris) – In France, three million children live in families whose income falls below the poverty line. On Tuesday, April 1, the Don Bosco Foundation in France brought together two committed voices—Marie-Aleth Grard, president of “ATD-Quart Monde,” (ATD Altogether in Dignity – Fourth World) and Fr. Jean-Marie Petitclerc, SDB, Vice Provincial of the Salesian Province “St. Francis de Sales” of France and Southern Belgium—for a discussion on this crucial theme.

THE MESSAGE OF THE VICAR OF THE RECTOR MAJOR, Fr Stefano Martoglio

To celebrate a General Chapter in one place or in some other place is not an indifferent matter. Certainly, being at Valdocco, in the "cradle of the charism", we have the opportunity to rediscover the beginnings of our history and rediscover the originality that constitutes the heart of our identity as consecrated persons and apostles to the young.
