The first day, Thursday, April 10, began with the journey from Turin to Rome. Two trains, departing at staggered timings from Turin, brought the participants to the Roma-Termini central station. They were warmly welcomed by the community of the Sacred Heart, the Salesian house in the heart of the Capital, which will also be the new home of the Rector Major and the new members of the General Council.
After a communal lunch, the groups were distributed to their respective accommodations, where they had free time to rest and dine. Each accommodation was coordinated by a representative, while the Sacred Heart community prepared to host the participants, offering support and hospitality.
On Friday, April 11, the central moment of the pilgrimage is scheduled: the communal celebration of the Jubilee and the Eucharist together in the heart of Christianity. At 8:00 AM (UTC+2), the Salesians will gather in St. Peter's Square from their respective accommodations, and then at 9:00 AM, they will all participate in the Eucharistic celebration at the Altar of the Chair of St. Peter, presided by the Rector Major, Fr. Fabio Attard.
The subsequent program includes the profession of faith at the Tomb of the Apostle Peter and the passage through the Holy Door, a central moment of the Jubilee pilgrimage. Following this, there will be a time for personal prayer and free time visit to the Eternal City.
After another communal lunch at the Salesian Generalate, the afternoon will be dedicated to a tour following Don Bosco's footsteps in Rome, with stops at significant places he visited during his time in the city. This will offer the chapter members a valuable opportunity to reconnect with the spiritual roots of the founder.
Saturday, April 12, marks the final moment of the General Chapter. At 9:00 AM, there will be a guided tour, divided into linguistic groups, of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and the adjoining Salesian house. At 11:00 AM, the solemn closing Eucharist of the General Chapter will take place, presided over by the Rector Major, during which the General Chapter Assembly will be officially concluded.
At the end, there will be a moment of fraternal agape, sealing with joy and commitment the end of an intense journey of discernment, communion, and missionary renewal.
