Belgium – (B)Europe: “Don Bosco” College of Borgomanero Visits Brussels

11 April 2025

Brussels, Belgium – April 2025 – Just a few weeks ago, the Salesian association for educational and sustainable tourism, TGS Nazionale, wrapped up another exciting international experience. In March, a member of the TGS National Secretariat, together with a TGS volunteer, accompanied a group of 35 students from “Don Bosco” College of Borgomanero on a study trip to Brussels, as part of the project “(B)Europe: an experience to share.” The initiative was designed as a training experience in active European citizenship, with the goal of encouraging reflection on what it means to be a European citizen and to deepen students' understanding of the opportunities available to young people in an international context. Guided by some members of the school’s teaching staff and supported by partner organizations such as Don Bosco Youth-Net and Don Bosco International, the participants spent four meaningful days immersed in the European experience. They visited the European Parliament and the Parlamentarium, gaining clearer insight into the roles and inner workings of the European Union. The group also had the chance to engage with several representatives of European civil society. Through talks and discussions with delegates from organizations such as COMECE (Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union), the European Volunteer Centre, Erasmus Student Network, Don Bosco Youth-Net, the European Youth Forum, and Don Bosco International, students explored relevant and pressing topics through open dialogue. There was also time to explore the key landmarks of both Leuven and Brussels, with enriching cultural visits. In conclusion, initiatives like this one are incredibly valuable for young students, as they foster curiosity and inspire future projects and ideas.
