(ANS – Rome) – The Salesian Province of Kolkata, dedicated to St. John Bosco, encompasses the regions of India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. It is a living embodiment of Don Bosco’s visionary dream of 1886, in which he foresaw a missionary path stretching from Santiago to Peking. Over time, this vision has blossomed into a vibrant and dynamic apostolate that serves people from a rich tapestry of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. These include Bengali, Nepali, Santhali, Hindi, Sadri and various other tribal languages. The mission of the province has made a profound impact across the Bengali plains, the Santhal tribal areas, and the Nepali-speaking hills, through a wide array of initiatives in education, pastoral ministry, and social outreach, transforming lives and bringing hope to countless individuals and communities.
