Italy – DL Day 2025: 1,500 Young People in Chiari as “Sowers of Hope” Following the Example of Domenico Savio and Laura Vicuña

10 April 2025

Chiari, Italy – April 2025 – A wave of enthusiasm, color, music, and fraternity filled the town of Chiari for DL Day 2025 (DL Day: Dominic Savio & Laura Vicuña Day), the annual celebration of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) of Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna. On Sunday, April 6, more than 1,500 young people and their leaders from oratories, schools, and Salesian communities gathered for a day of fellowship, games, prayer, and formation under the theme “Sowers of Hope.”

On Saturday, the day before the event, the youth leaders of the Animator Formation School prepared games and activities with the help of many parents from Chiari's Salesian oratory “SAMBER.” The symbolic protagonists of this year’s event were two beloved young Salesian saints—Domenico Savio and Laura Vicuña—models of youthful holiness who lived the Gospel with joy and commitment. A vibrant nature-inspired backdrop emphasized their message.

The day included team games, themed workshops, dances, and animations. The highlight was the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Roberto Dal Molin, Provincial of the Lombardy-Emilia Province (ILE), with a special message from the Vice Provincial of the Salesian Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, expressing gratitude for support to displaced families in Goma. DL Day remains a key moment for the Salesian charism in the region, offering young people a joyful and formative experience that keeps Don Bosco’s dream alive today.
