Quito, Ecuador - January 1888 - The expedition of the Salesians arrived in the country on 12 January 1888. Even though he was ill, Don Bosco heard the news and sent his blessing. The first festive oratory was founded on 18 February and on 15 April of that year the Salesian Workshops and the School of Arts and Crafts were inaugurated.

Shillong, India - 1st August 1937 - On 1 August 1937 in the Salesian mission of Shillong where he worked, the Salesian missionary, now Servant of God, Fr Costantino Vendrame, officiated at fourteen baptisms. "In the photo there is a beautiful and profound theological symbolism" commented Fr Pierluigi Cameroni SDB, Postulator. In one hand the Servant of God holds the Bible and in the other he has the hand of a child, to signify the union of the human and the supernatural."

Turin, Italy – January 26th, 1854 – “On the evening of 26 January 1854 we gathered in Don Bosco's room: Don Bosco himself, Rocchietti, Artiglia, Cagliero and Rua; and it was proposed that we engage, with the help of God and of St. Francis de Sales, in an experiment in the practical exercise of charity toward neighbour, to eventually make a promise, and then if it will be deemed possible and convenient, to make a vow of it to the Lord. From that evening the name Salesians was given to those who chose and would in the future choose to engage in such an exercise” (Fr Giovanni Battista Lemoyne).
