The Pinardi Chapel. On the wall behind the altar there is a painting by Giovanni Paolo Crida (1886-1967) depicting the Resurrection of Christ, a reminder that it was on Easter Sunday 1846 that Don Bosco inaugurated the old Pinardi chapel.
Turin-Valsalice, Sixth General Chapter, 29 August-6 September; first election of the Rector Major without the presence of Don Bosco. At the centre in the front row Michael Rua RM and Bishop John Cagliero; the front row third from left, Fr Francesco Cerruti, regulator of the Chapter. In the picture the 69 Chapter members together with other Salesians.
On the left, the portico from Pinardi House to the present religious objects shop, on the corner of the building where Don Bosco's rooms are. In the background can be seen the former Audisio House (bombed during the war and rebuilt higher in 1954). On the right, can be seen the side portico of the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians (still without the second dome built over the sanctuary in the thirties) and across the yard the House of the Superior Council (which was later raised to two storeys).
