Bogotà, Colombia - 1922 - This photograph, belonging to the historical archive of the "St Peter Claver" Province of Colombia-Bogotà, portrays a group of students from the "León XIII" Salesian Boarding School. It was taken in 1922 on the south side of the courtyard of the Arts section.
Zamora, Spain - Dating back to the mid-20th century, this photograph shows a moment of the construction of the current Church of Mary Help of Christians in Zamora. It is an interesting document, which provides a valuable testimony of its creation. In the photograph, in fact, you can see the advanced formation of the side walls, with the scaffolding and the first arches ready to begin the construction of the roof. The works at the church, located a few steps from the RENFE-Zamora railway station, were supervised by the architect Luis Moya.
Lisbon, Portugal - 1952 - On 22 June 1952, the Congress of Salesian Past Pupils took place in Lisbon. The then Provincial, Fr Agenor Vieira Pontes, also participated in the congress work, together with the Salesians Fr Agostinho Sabas, Fr Ismael Matos, Fr Armando Monteiro and Fr Pedro Morais, all seated in the front row.
Turin, Italy - 1941 - Today, April 19, 2021, is the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Agnelli work and the opening of the church of San Giovanni Bosco for worship. In fact, it was 19 April 1941 when, as evening fell, «Cardinal Maurilio Fossati reached the peripheral area of Mirafiori to bless the chapel of the Edoardo Agnelli oratory dedicated to Don Bosco and open it to worship," says the Salesian Bulletin of May 1941. The opening ceremony was attended by Senator Giovanni Agnelli with all his family and then Rector Major, Fr Pietro Ricaldone, accompanied by the superiors of the Chapter.
