Lisbon, Portugal - 1906 - An ancient photograph of Fr Michele Rua visiting the "College of the Sacred Heart", in the Laranjeiras area, during his second trip to Portugal. Fr Rua went to Portugal for the inauguration of the new headquarters of the "Oficinas de São José" in Prazeres, which took place on March 19, 1906. Starting March 7, Fr Rua had been in Spain to visit Viana and Vigo. He later traveled to Braga and Porto, Portugal, before heading to Lisbon.

Quito, Ecuador - 1896 - 125 years have passed since the La Tola neighborhood in the city of Quito witnessed the birth of the Salesian Boarding School "Don Bosco - La Tola". The work stands on land that the Salesians purchased from Mr. Manuel Cuvi. Here they built the Boarding School, which was named after Don Bosco. It is an educational institution, which has always been at the service of the working classes and, above all, of young people.

Rodeo del Medio, Argentina - 1901 - In 1901, in the Salesian house in Rodeo del Medio, a school aimed at teaching viticulture and enology was established and soon the construction of the Experimental Cellar also began. On April 17 of that same year, the first Mass wine was filtered by Fr Paolo Rebotti. In a certain sense, this date symbolizes more than any other the "birth" of the "Don Bosco" work in Mendoza.

Puertollano, Spain - 1960 - An ancient photograph showing the monument to Mary Help of Christians in 'El Bonal', a remote agricultural estate located on the outskirts of Puertollano. This Salesian presence, now disappeared, was mainly dedicated to the function of a Salesian seminary, authorized by the diocese in 1959. The monument depicted in the photo was built in the middle of the field, near a well that was used for the irrigation of the various orchards present on the estate. The work is due to the imagination and talent of the Salesian and sculptor Enrique Herencia. Although the Salesians left this presence in the 1970s, the monument to Mary Help of Christians can still be seen from the street as the new owners have kept it.
