On his first day in Peru, Fr Cameroni presided at Mass in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Lima, with a significant participation from members of the Salesian Family. After the Eucharistic celebration, he shared with those present the theme "Holiness in the Salesian Family"
In his speech, he pointed out that of the 32 groups that make up the Salesian Family, as many as 15 currently have causes underway. Then he stressed the importance of Salesian holiness, highlighting that it is a reality that must be known, guarded and imitated.
On the second day, in the hall of the Provincial Council of Salesians of Peru, the Historical Commission for the Cause of Beatification and Canonisation of Fr Bolla presented its report to the Postulator General.
David Franco, historian of the Salesians of Peru and general coordinator of the Historical Commission, curated the presentation, accompanied by Mrs Angélica Almeida and Dr José Antonio Benito, both members of this group of experts. The working session was accompanied, via Zoom, by Italy, by Matteo Penati, Consultant of the Salesian Postulation, and in person, by Fr Jesús Jurado, Vice-Postulator of Fr Bolla's Cause.
Fr Cameroni, together with Fr Cruz and Fr Jurado, recognised the importance of the work done: "We have not seen anything similar in any of the cases we have accompanied," said Fr Cruz, Secretary and Head of archives at the Office of the General Postulation in Rome, as well as Vice-Postulator of the Cause of the Pakistani Salesian past pupil Akash Bashir, Servant of God.
Fr Cameroni also expressed his great satisfaction for all that has been achieved and congratulated the work of the members of the Historical Commission.
