(ANS – Roma) – The Salesian Rector Major, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, will commence his visit to Valencia on 26 April 2024. This is an institutional program, part of the 125th anniversary celebrations of the Salesian Saint Anthony Abbot presence in Valencia, which will allow the 10th Successor of Don Bosco to get to know the work of the Salesians in the city up close.
(ANS – Manikandam) – Salesian institutions in India installed solar panels thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. Fourteen solar panels were added to the Don Bosco Media Academy, located in Manikandam, and Don Bosco Pre-Novitiate in the Dindigal District. Each solar panel is 540 watts.
(ANS – Estoril) – The 28th edition of the Salesian National Games of Portugal will be held at the Salesian centre in Estoril from 25 to 28 April 2024. More than a thousand athletes will participate in the various tournaments of Futsal, Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Swimming and Chess. Nine delegations will be present from Mirandela, Porto, Funchal, Arcozelo, Évora, Lisbon and Cascais – the most Salesian municipality in the country, with the representation of the Salesians from Manique, the Salesians in Bairro do Rosário and the Salesians in Estoril, the latter hosts and also the largest delegation, with 234 participants.
(ANS – Lima) – The "El Sagrario" parish of the Cathedral in Lima has opened its doors to the Salesian Family to celebrate two extraordinary sons of Don Bosco who have made their way to holiness in Peru: the Venerable Octavio Ortiz Arrieta (Lima, 1878 - Chachapoyas, 1958) and the Servant of God Luis (Luigi) Bolla (Schio, 1932 - Lima, 2013).
(ANS – Madrid) – The National Salesian Centre for Youth Ministry, in collaboration with the Salesian publishing house Editorial CCS organised the "2nd Dialogue on Youth Ministry": a day of formation, held on 12 April at the Provincial House of the Salesians in Spain's St James the Greater Province (SSM), focused on a discussion on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its implications for Youth Ministry from a Christian perspective.
(ANS - Rome) - The Thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration by the two newly consecrated Salesian Archbishops took place in the Sacred Heart Basilica, Rome at 11.30 a.m., on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Several Salesian Cardinals, Bishops, General Council members, Salesians, Members of the Salesian Family and Special invitees joined the celebration in this great Church built by Don Bosco himself. The Holy Eucharist was presided by his Eminence Cardinal Ángel Artime Fernández, while Archbishop Giordano Piccinotti preached the homily.
