(ANS – Tirana) – A hymn of gratitude, first of all to the Lord, for the Graces he has poured in abundance, and then to all the youth, the staff and the educators who collaborated to fill with significance and service the time of the Academic year. This was the “Thank you Feast”, which was celebrated yesterday, June 20th, at the Salesian house of Tirana, in Albania.
(ANS – Fenegrò) – He was expecting with joy an audience from Pope Francis, to offer him his latest work, representing the Pope welcoming with open hands a family of migrants; but the Lord came to his encounter first. Artist Mario Bogani, author of numerous and famous works, among which many representing don Bosco, went to the House of the Father yesterday, Sunday, June 19th.
(ANS – Kabwe) – In the last years, the situation in Zambia has become critical. For UNICEF “it is one of the poorest countries of the world, with almost 86% of the 10.3 million inhabitants below poverty line”. Life in Zambia flows peacefully among great contrasts. On one side there is great poverty, with people who live in mud houses and with no electricity and the majority of the population cannot afford to buy food and clothing; on the other hand there are also people who purchase designer clothes, smartphones and new luxurious cars.
(ANS – Rome) – A twofold appointment of Salesian Superiors during the last weekend: the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernandez Artime, with the consent of his Council, appointed Fr. Felix Fernandes Avelino, Provincial of India-Panjim (INP), and Fr. Apolinario Ornai Maria Ornai Neto, Superior of the Vice-Province of Indonesia-East Timor (ITM).
(ANS – Rome) – Integrating in society and offering opportunities to those who are forced to leave their own country because of persecutions and wars: with this perspective, Salesians adopted as their own the slogan of the World Refugee Day promoted by the United Nations, which is celebrated today, June 20th: “With Refugees: We stand with those who are forced to flee”.
