(ANS - Buenos Aires) - The Extraordinary Visit to the "Zeffirino Namuncurá" Province of South Argentina (ARS), is now nearing its conclusion. This visit was carried out on behalf of the Rector Major, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, by the Regional Councillor for the Southern Cone of America and Fr Alfonso Bauer, the Novice Master of the Inter-provincial Novitiate of Montevideo. In recent days, Fr. Romero visited the houses in Esperanza, Grande Zárate, Villa Luzuriaga, Uribelarrea, Del Valle, Tandil, Mar del Plata, and Río Gallegos, while Fr. Bauer visited the San Miguel House in La Plata and the one in Ensenada.
(ANS – Vatican City) – In the audience granted on Thursday, 23 May 2024 to Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, Pope Francis approved the decrees leading to the canonisation of Blessed Carlo Acutis, a young lay faithful born on 3 May 1991 in London (England) and died on 12 October 2006 in Monza (Italy); and Father Giuseppe Allamano, founding priest of the Institute of Missions of the Consolata, born in Castelnuovo Don Bosco (Italy) on 21 January 1851 and died in Turin (Italy) on 16 February 1926.
(ANS – Rome) – "Mobile Journalism" (or "MoJo"), understood as digital information created using mobile devices such as smartphones, is a communication area in which the Salesians of Don Bosco are heavily investing. This approach serves as a resource for agile and effective communication, especially in settings with limited structural resources. In preparation for the Communication 2024 Conference "SHAPING TOMORROW," which will take place from August 1 to 7, 2024, at the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) in Rome, the Sector for Social Communication is presenting a reflection on this theme.
(ANS Turin) – To refer to the life of St John Bosco (1815-1888), a leading figure of nineteenth-century Piedmontese social holiness, without mentioning the world of dreams, is to suppress an important aspect of his identity. Through the dreams that God sent him, the life of the saint was marked by the supernatural.
(ANS - Ho Chi Minh City) – On the morning of 20 May 2024, the Salesians living around the city of Ho Chi Minh City gathered in the Provincial House for the conclusion of the Extraordinary Visitation to the St John Bosco Province of Vietnam (VIE), conducted, on behalf of the Rector Major, by Fr Alfred Maravilla, General Councillor for the Missions. The visitation, which lasted almost 9 months over five different occasions, had opened on 3 August 2023 with the Visitor meeting with the Provincial and his Council. This was followed by visits to presences grouped by areas.
