Punta Arenas, Chile – June 2024 - The 46th edition of the MAM (Musical Artistic Manifestations) Festival was celebrated at the Liceo San José in Punta Arenas, captivating participants during two vibrant days. This event, recognised for its fusion of music and artistic expression, established itself as an undisputed success. During the festival, regional artists performed on stage, bringing the energy of the event to its peak with a varied musical programme. In addition to music and visual arts, exhibitions by local artists featured prominently in this edition, enriching the experience of the participants. The festival organisers were very pleased with the public response, emphasising the community's unity in celebrating creativity and passion for music and art in a festive and welcoming environment. The XLVI MAM Festival reaffirmed its position as one of the most relevant and anticipated cultural events of the year, leaving a significant mark in the memory of all participants and consolidating its reputation in the Salesian school of the Magallanes region.
Bogotá, Colombia – June 2024 - On 27 and 28 June, the 4th level of the Salesianity Course was completed at the Salesian Spirituality Inspectorial Centre, of the Salesian presence in El Porvenir, Bogotá. Recognised as a Diploma by the 'Fundación Universitaria Salesiana', and where the second group of 8 members of the Salesian Family of Colombia was certified. Present on the closing day were Fr John Jairo Gómez, COB Inspector, and Fr Leonardo Gómez, Rector of the 'Fundación Universitaria Salesiana', as well as members of the joint interprovincial formation commission and the CIES thematic team.
Tarnowskie Góry, Poland - June 2024 - About 200 young people from the Wrocław Province (PLO) met for almost a week to take part in the School for Salesian Animators (SAS), the Ceremonies Course and the Course for Readers. During this intense event they learned how to be animators of the Salesian spirit and how to organise and live the liturgy well. The SAS is divided into four levels: in Level I, the youngest participants learned how to lead Salesian integration games. Level II introduces Salesian spirituality and the secrets of Holy Scripture. Level III is the acquisition of skills in scripture writing, devotions and serene evenings. Level IV consists mainly of meetings on safety, prevention and protection of minors in our oratories, a first aid course and a recreational educator course. An important element of this week's meeting was the Course for Readers and the Course for Ushers. The young people learned the secrets of conducting ceremonies, focusing especially on the liturgy of the Easter Triduum and studying the liturgical book containing the prayers, regulations of ceremonies and rites celebrated by Popes, Bishops and Abbots (Pontificals). The meeting was organised by Fr Mikołaj Wyczalek SDB, Delegate for Youth and Vocational Ministry in the PLO Province. The Salesian past pupils of the Wrocław Province also gathered in Tarnowskie Góry for their formation day with conferences, Eucharist and integration.
Ayagualo, El Salvador – June 2024 - International Meeting of the Central American Region School Commission (CERCA) on the theme "Salesian Identity and the Global Educational Pact". For three days, from 27 to 29 June, leaders, academic coordinators, teachers of the Central American works of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) and the Sisters of the Divine Saviour (HDS), met under the guidance of the CERCA Commission of El Salvador. The event was attended by the Superiors of the Provinces of the three Congregations present: Sr. Amarilis Orozco, HDS, Sr. Aracely Rodas, FMA, CAM Province; Fr. Julio Navarro, SDB, CAM Province; Sr. María del Carmen Durán, FMA, Vicar of the CAR Province. The main objective of the meeting was to reflect on the educational pastoral action of the CERCA network, enlightened by the guidelines of the Salesian School of America (ESA), to respond to today's challenges. The more than 80 participants were able to attend various talks on different topics including: "Salesian Leadership: reflection and good practices", by Roberto Damas; "The Global Educational Covenant as seen from our Salesian Schools", by Jessie Arroyo; "Integral Ecology: reflection and good practices", by Laurens Torres; "How should the Salesian leader, enlightened by the Global Educational Covenant, be to respond to the challenges of today's world?", by Sister Ana Ofelia Portillo (HDS); "Contextualisation and the ESA journey" by Fr René Santos (SDB). Sister Eva Doris Rosales presented the model of meaning that guides the common language in the Salesian Schools of America. The participants brought with them challenges and new proposals. Finally, the coordination of CERCA will be led for the next three years by Sister Ana Ofelia Portillo (HDS).
