El Salvador - International Meeting of the School Commission of the Central American Region: "Salesian Identity and the Global Educational Pact

Ayagualo, El Salvador – June 2024 - International Meeting of the Central American Region School Commission (CERCA) on the theme "Salesian Identity and the Global Educational Pact". For three days, from 27 to 29 June, leaders, academic coordinators, teachers of the Central American works of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) and the Sisters of the Divine Saviour (HDS), met under the guidance of the CERCA Commission of El Salvador. The event was attended by the Superiors of the Provinces of the three Congregations present: Sr. Amarilis Orozco, HDS, Sr. Aracely Rodas, FMA, CAM Province; Fr. Julio Navarro, SDB, CAM Province; Sr. María del Carmen Durán, FMA, Vicar of the CAR Province. The main objective of the meeting was to reflect on the educational pastoral action of the CERCA network, enlightened by the guidelines of the Salesian School of America (ESA), to respond to today's challenges. The more than 80 participants were able to attend various talks on different topics including: "Salesian Leadership: reflection and good practices", by Roberto Damas; "The Global Educational Covenant as seen from our Salesian Schools", by Jessie Arroyo; "Integral Ecology: reflection and good practices", by Laurens Torres; "How should the Salesian leader, enlightened by the Global Educational Covenant, be to respond to the challenges of today's world?", by Sister Ana Ofelia Portillo (HDS); "Contextualisation and the ESA journey" by Fr René Santos (SDB). Sister Eva Doris Rosales presented the model of meaning that guides the common language in the Salesian Schools of America. The participants brought with them challenges and new proposals. Finally, the coordination of CERCA will be led for the next three years by Sister Ana Ofelia Portillo (HDS).
