They arrived there on a Sunday in July 1845, but stayed for a short time, only two months. In fact, the rowdiness of the boys provoked complaints from the neighbours and the city council forced them to move to another location.
Supported by the Archbishop, Don Bosco was able to move his Oratory to the courtyard of the Church of the Most Holy Crucifix, known as San Pietro in Vincoli, near the Cottolengo. But even this was brief.
After a few more moves, it was in 1846 that Don Bosco finally arrived at Valdocco. It was Easter Sunday, when the Pinardi Shed was inaugurated, which was to become the small chapel where Don Bosco's activities were concentrated in the early years and where many boys found help and hospitality.
