Lambaré, Paraguay – June 2016 – The “Don Bosco Róga” Orchestra, composed of children and adolescents, announced the recording of a new disc, the third of its history, entitled “Music and Life III”. The disc was recorded in the “Spirit And Sound Studio”, with the musical production of Master Sergio Cuquejo and the artistic direction of Prof.  Adrián López. The Orchestra is part of the “Don Bosco Róga” Integral Educative Centre and of the Project of the Nucleus of Symphonic Teaching, which aims at socially inserting children and adolescents through music.

Catania, Italy – June 2016 - Fr. Eusebio Muñoz, Delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family, last weekend visited the Don Bosco Colony of Catania, the centre of first reception for Non-accompanied Foreign Minors, run by the Don Bosco 2000 association, in the context of the “Don Bosco Island” project. Don Bosco Colony at present hosts 60 young migrants, most of whom coming from Sub-Saharan Africa, assisted by a team of professionals belonging to the Salesian Family and coordinated by Cinzia Vella, a Salesian Cooperator. The reception project comprises numerous activities of integration in the city oratories and in the Colony itself with inter-cultural collaborators. Fr. Muñoz, accompanied by the responsible for the Salesian Family in Sicily, Fr. Angelo Grasso, encountered the migrants and the staff: “I am very happy to be here in Catania – he said – I deem it important that a Salesian centre deal with reception, putting into practice the preventive system of Don Bosco, especially in this historical period in which migrants arrive”. 

Mexico City, Mexico – June 2016 – On June 10-11th, in the “Domingo Savio” Institute there was the encounter of the Salesians involved in School Ministry. Various were the themes dealt with, among which “Prevention of Violence in the School”, with a conference delivered by magistrate Homero Pantoja Rivas, who underscored the problem of bullying; and “the Challenge of Education in the XXI Century”, with a contribution from Leonardo Kourchenco, expert in Communication and Education, who highlighted the importance of technology in teaching. The participants modified the school ethic code in favour of the protection of minors and revised mission, vision and strategic targets taking into account the present challenges for Salesian schools in Mexico.

Vaticano City, Vatican – June 14th, 2016 – In the early afternoon of June 14th, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, the members of the General Council and the new Provincials went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Door in the Vatican. They entered through Porta Sant’Anna, and went on their pilgrimage from the clothing room of the Sistine Chapel to the Holy Door. After the prayer for the indulgence at St. Peter’s, they visited and prayed in the Pauline Chapel and the Sala Regia (Regal Room) and then went to the Sistine Chapel for Vespers. In the evening they met the Salesian Community at the Vatican.

Nashik, India – June 11th, 2016 – On June 11th, the inaugural ceremony of the new academic year of the Salesian Institute of Philosophy of Divyadaan was held with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Godfrey D’Souza, Superior of the Salesian Province of Mumbai (INB).

León, Spain – June 3rd, 2016 – The “Juan Soñador” School of Formation and Employment was inaugurated in León on June 3rd, in the presence of various public authorities, firms, representatives of the Salesians and the Rector of the School, Álvaro de la Puente. The School follows the “Juan Soñador School Program ”, which has the target of helping young people between 16 and 25 years of age who risk social exclusion, with three projects: socio-educative project, formative project and employment project. The program was born in 2015 from the “Juan Soñador” Foundation and the Salesians, and was financed with European funds by the municipalities of Castilla and León.
