Rome, Italy – May 21st, 2016 – On May 21st, in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians there was the priestly ordination of Salesian confrères Vittorio Cunsolo, Gabriele Graziano and Vinod Lugun.

Rome, Italy – June 23rd – The community of the Salesians’ General House celebrated the “Thank You Feast” for the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime. Starting from 1870 in Valdocco, on the occasion of the feast of St. John the Baptist, on June 24th, the past pupils greeted Don Bosco and expressed their gratitude to him. Reviving this tradition, the Salesians of the General House celebrated the Rector Major with a moment of fraternal encounter in which they remembered in a special way the anniversaries of the Salesians of the community: the 75 years of profession of Salesian Brother Renato Celato, the 50 years of profession of Joan Luis Playà, Philippe Frémin and Gael Sullivan and also the 25 years of ordination of Martín Lasarte and Silvio Roggia.

Yangon, Myanmar – June 2016 – On the occasion of the celebration of the 50th Day of Social Communications (SC), a seminar on Social Communication was held from June 11th to 15th. The event was guided by Seàn-Patrick Lovett, director responsible for the programs of Vatican Radio in English language, and was organized by Fr. Leo Mang, SDB, who since 2010 works as National Director for Social Communications of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Myanmar. On June 11th, there was a special session for the 18 Bishops of Myanmar. On June 12th, with the Mass that was presided over by Salesian Cardinal Charles Bo, were opened the sessions dedicated to the various themes of SC, with the participation of 2 Bishops, 16 diocesan Directors of SC, 5 Priests, 18 Sisters, 4 Salesians and two lay people.

Kazanlak, Bulgaria – June 18, 2016 – On June 18th, in the Salesian Parish of St. Joseph, the Indian Salesian missionary Donbor Jyrwa was ordained a deacon. 

Manaus, Brazil – June 12th, 2016 – On June 12th, in the quarter “Armando Mendes” of Manaus, there was the celebration of the Patron, St. Dominic Savio, with the Mass that was presided over by Fr. Nelson Pereira, in charge of the missionary area. Numerous faithful took part in the celebration: the four communities of the zone, and the youth of the Salesian Centre of Formation, who brought the relics of St. Dominic Savio, that since last May are being brought in pilgrimage in the Salesian community.

Rome, Italy – June 2016. In the afternoon of June 21st, at the “Sacro Cuore” Salesian Institute there was the beginning of the Encounter of the Persons in Charge of Salesian University Colleges in Italy, in the presence of Fr. Fabio Attard, General Councillor for Youth Ministry, of Mr. Mario Olmos, Salesian brother, General Coordinator of Salesian Institutions of Higher Education, and of Dr. Ernesto Diaco, Director of the National Office of CEI for Education, School and University. On June 22nd the encounter continued at the Salesians’ General House, where the 13 participants met Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, Mr. Olmos, Fr. Stefano Martoglio, Councillor for the Mediterranean Region and Fr. On June 23rd, after the Mass that was presided over by Msgr. Enrico dal Covolo, SDB, Rector of the Lateran University, there is the conclusion of the event, with the speeches of Fr. Claudio Belfiore, National Coordinator of Youth Ministry, and Fr. Alessandro Camadini, President of the Association of Colleges and University Residences.
