Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – 12 September 2016 - The Vice-President of the Dominican Republic and Coordinator of the Government Cabinet for Social Policies, Doctor Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, conferred the “Bene per te” medal on the Salesian Fr Juan Linares Muñoz. The award is given to people who stand up for the defence of values and of the needy. In her speech the Vice-President paid tribute to the social work which Fr Linares and the Salesians are doing in the country.

Rome, Italy - September 2016 - On 13 September, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, met the new missionaries who will depart on the 147th Salesian Missionary Expedition.

(ANS - Florence) - "Our goal with this seminar was to bring the subject to the table and to hear different points of view," says Lauretta Valente, President of CIOFS- FP, at the end of the 28th European Seminar held in Florence, 7-9 September. It was organized with the support of the association of category FORM on the so-called "dual system". The objective was fully achieved, with the participation in the Seminar of numerous influential people from the world of education, professional training, business and institutions.

(ANS – Freetown) – 48 streets kids who met Fr Angel Fernandez Artime during his visit to Sierra Leone in January this year have been finally reunited to their families. The boys, aged 8 to 15, were taken from the streets of Freetown and underwent an 8 months rehabilitation process.

Córdoba, Argentina - September 2016 - The Fourth Meeting of the local delegates of Social Communication of the central area was held on 3 September. There were 20 new participants at the meeting where dialogue, information and dynamics created a space for integration and sharing of the reality of the Salesian Social Communications today, in order to reflect, to make present and put into practice the Salesian presence as educators and evangelizers in the digital courtyard.
