Cologne, Germany - June 2017 - Ernest Roig Campi and Jakob Steinkuhl, the two young German nurses who left Cologne, Germany, on April 10, 2016 for a bicycle solidarity initiative, reached their destination in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam, on April 29, to continue on to Vung Tau and reach the southern China Sea. The two traveled for almost 13 months and traveled circa 15,000 km through 17 nations; along the journey, they were hosted in numerous Salesian structures. Madrid, Spain - June 2017 - Cardinal Carlos Amigo Vellejo, Archbishop Emeritus of Seville, O.F.M., presided over the ordination of four Salesians - two priests and two deacons - on June 10 at the Mary Help of Christians Sanctuary of Atocha, in Madrid. The ordinances were concelebrated by Fr. Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, Provincial of the "San Giacomo Maggiore," Province and Fr Cristobal López, Provincial of the "Mary Help of Christians" Province, and about 90 priests,with the participation of numerous members of the Salesian Family and young people from across the country.
La Paz, Bolivia - June 2017 - The Salesian University of Bolivia organized the 5th International Congress of Consultancy, Management and Trade (CIAGEN 2017) with the participation of "Silva Henriquez" Catholic University (Chile), Salesian Polytechnic University of Ecuador, Salesian University Center of Sao Paulo (Brazil), Don Bosco University of El Salvador, as well as 20 international and national exhibitors, a host of professionals, faculty members and hundreds of university students. Among the issues discussed were the promotion of a humanized economy, regulatory aspects of business, business management, quality management, entrepreneurship and doing business in Latin America.
Oświęcim, Poland - June 2017 - On 4 June, the traditional annual meeting of the pastors took place at the Salesian School of Oświęcim, Krakow Province (PLS), and was presided by Fr. Tadeusz Rozmus, Councilor for North and Central Europe. More than 200 past students attended the meeting, from the eldest, who graduated in 1948, to the class of 2017.
Pune, India - June 2017 - On 5 June, the Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) in Pune, Mumbai Province (INB), in collaboration with "AXA Business Service", donated school supplies, books, toys and clothing to over 375 women and children from the slums. In addition, DBDS, in collaboration with the Spanish Catholic NGO "Manos Unidas", carries out a development and emancipation project for the women of Pune.
