Sherbrooke, Que., Canada – May 2018 – At Le Salésien in Sherbrooke, almost 20 students were commissioned on May 15 for a ten-day mission at the Salesian house of Gressier, Haïti. They form the group JMS-H (Jeunes Missionnaires du Salésien Haïti). Their commissioning took place during a Eucharist in the school chapel. Fr. Iguintz Calixte, SDB (photo, front-center), and some teachers will accompany the group, which will depart on May 16.
Dankotuwa, Sri Lanka - May 2018 - On May 19, Archbishop Pierre Nguyên Van Tot, Apostolic Nuncio in Sri Lanka, presided over the Perpetual Profession of 5 Salesians: 1 from Madagascar, 1 from D.R. Congo, 2 from Vietnam and 1 from Sri Lanka. The Provincial of the Sri Lankan Vice Province (LKC), Fr Joseph Almeida, accepted the vows. Four of the professed are missionaries in Sri Lanka.
Krakow, Poland - May 2018 - On May 17, at the community of theologians in Krakow, Fr Tadeusz Rozmus, Councilor for the Central and North Region, presided over the meeting of the directors, rectors and leaders of the animation sectors of the Salesian Province of Krakow (PLS). They reviewed the pastoral year and reflected together on the conclusions of the Extraordinary Visitation.
Brasilia, Brazil - May 2018 - The Continental Meeting of Salesian Radio Stations was held from May 17 to 20. It was attended by representatives of radio broadcasting stations in Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Antilles and Brazil. Present: Fr Filiberto González, General Councilor for Social Communication, who underlined the importance of the commitment made by the broadcasters, credible news sources in the communities where they are present.
Turin, Italy - May 18, 2018 - The visit of Rector Major Fr Ángel Fernández Artime to the Special Circumscription of Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta began this morning with Mass and meeting with the Provincial Council.
Jerusalem, Israel - May 2018 - On 10 May 17 Salesian students of Theology of the "Studium Theologicum Salesianum" received the ministries of the acolyte (8) and of the readership (9). The Mass and the conferment of ministries was presided over by Msgr. Giacinto-Boulos Marcuzzo, auxiliary bishop of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. The 17 Salesians come from 11 Salesian Provinces from across the globe.
