Shillong, India - September 2018 - From August 31 to September 2, the annual spiritual retreat for the youth of St. Anthony's College, belonging to the Salesian Province of Shillong (INS), took place. About 1800 young people took part on the first day, over 3000 at the final day.
Palermo, Italy - September 15, 2018 - As part of the pastoral visit to the diocese of Palermo, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Pino Puglisi, Pope Francis met the youth in Piazza Politeama on September 15. Among the participants, many young people from the Salesian Youth Movement, who oversaw the animation of the event.
Zobwe, Mozambique - September 2018 - Via the imposition of the hands of Msgr. Germano Grachane, bishop emeritus of Nacala, Salesian deacon Manuel Jone Chimbale was ordained priest. Present at the celebration were Fr Marco Biaggi, Superior of the Vice Province of Mozambique, and many Salesians.
Palermo, Italy - September 2018 - Preparations are underway in Palermo for the visit that tomorrow, September 15th, the Holy Father Francis will undertake on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Pino Puglisi. The Salesian Family of Palermo contributes to the success of the event; for one, the young people of the Salesian Youth Movement in Palermo will take care of the "stage" animation, with dances and themed songs, on September 14th and 15th, both for the Regional Youth Conference and for the Youth Festival with the Holy Father. In addition, the Salesians Cooperators of Don Bosco Ranchibile handcrafted the tablecloths to be set at the tables for the lunch the Pope will share with migrants, prisoners and poor in the mission of Biagio Conte.
Brasilia, Brazil - September 2018 - From September 4 to 7, the meeting of the “Associazione Cultori di Storia Salesiana” (ACSSA), the Salesian history association, of Brazil, took place, presided over by Fr Nivaldo Pessinatti, Superior of the Recife Province (BRE), in the presence of Antenor de Andrade Silva, ACSSA-Brazil coordinator. Among the topics discussed: the importance of the work of the chroniclers in Salesian communities and those involved in Salesian history; improvements to the ISNEB archive; and the participation of the provincial secretaries in the ACSSA meetings.
