Bogotá, Colombia - September 2018 - On September 1 at the Salesian "Niño Jesús" the patronal feast of the Divine Child Jesus took place, attended by hundreds of pilgrims from Peru, Ecuador, Mexico and Bolivia. The celebrations culminated with the traditional procession, presided over by Cardinal Rubén Salazar, archbishop of Bogotá and Primate of Colombia, accompanied by Fr Jaime Morales, Superior of the Salesian Province of Bogotá.
Shillong, India - September 2018 - The Conference of the Salesian Family of the Superiors Major of South Asia was held on September 1st and 2nd. The event was presided and animated by Fr Maria Arokiam Kanaga, Councilor for the South Asia Region, and Fr Maria Charles, Delegate for Youth Ministry of South Asia.
Haverstraw, United States - September 2018 - Salesians Steven DeMaio, Travis Gunther and John Langan made their perpetual professions on 7 September in the chapel of the Marian Shrine in Haverstraw, New York. The ceremony was presided over by Fr Timothy Ploch, Councilor for the Interamerica Region.
Rome, Italy - September 2018 - At the Salesian Headquarters of the Sacred Heart of Rome, the 24 new missionaries of the 149th Salesian Missionary Expedition began their 4-week preparation course. Guillermo Basañes, General Councilor for the Missions, with his team, led by Fr Gianni Rolandi and Fr Martin Lasarte, guided and animated them.
Istanbul, Turkey - September 2018 - A group of young volunteers from the Province of Germany (GER), under the guidance of Fr Johannes Kaufmann, Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry, were engaged for four weeks at the Salesian Oratory in Istanbul. The volunteers organized a summer camp for children and young people together with a team of educators from Iraq, Pakistan and Turkey. The structures formally belong to the GER Province since September 2016.
Brussels, Belgium - September 2018 - The Executive Council of the World Confederation of Don Bosco Past Pupils met in Brussels during the first weekend of September. Fr Eusebio Muñoz, Delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family, took part. Besides concerning itself with the work of coordination and government, meetings were held with the two Belgian federations, with the leaders of the Local Associations, with Belgium's Salesian Families, both Flemish and French-speaking, including Fr Wilfried Wambeke, Superior of the Province of Belgium North and Holland (BEN).
