Shillong, India - August 2018 - On August 29 and 30, at the pastoral center of Shillong, 57 representatives of the various groups of the Salesian Family gathered for a meeting of study and reflection on how to rekindle the missionary spirit in the region. Various figures spoke at the event, including the archbishop emeritus of Guwahati, mgr. Thomas Menamparampil, SDB, who underlined the importance of an apostolate of friendship to bring the values of the Gospel into every culture and environment; and the archbishop of Shillong, mgr. Dominic Jala, SDB, who invited participants to focus on families and young people who need the light of Christ to bring peace and harmony into their lives.
Melbourne, Australia - August 2018 - Fr Phil Gleeson, Provincial Delegation for Formation of the Province of Australia (AUL) and Director of the "Don Bosco Formation House", Clifton Hill, organized the 2018 Annual Formation Meeting between August 24 to 27. Based on the theme "Responding to the call to holiness in today's world", 15 young Salesians from Samoa, Fiji Islands and Australia participated in the event which was guided by Fr Gleeson and Fr Bernie Graham, Vicar of the AUL Province, with the intervention of Fr Gabriel Monthon Rojanasutadkul, of the Thailand Province.
Maputsoe, Lesotho - September 2018 - A Congress of the Association of Salesian Cooperators (ASC) was held from 6 to 9 September aimed at establishing the association of South Africa as a Province and electing the new council. The congress was presided over by the Provincial of the Southern African Vice Province (AFM), Fr Joy Sebastian. On the final day, five new members of the ASC made their promises.
Seoul, South Korea - September 2018 - On September 1, Salesian Brother Marino Bois received a prestigious award called "Ilga Award" for his lifelong dedication to the technical education of poor young people. Having arrived as a missionary in South Korea in 1964, Br Bois was then in Sudan, Equatorial Guinea, China, Mongolia and Kenya. With his high skills in the field of mechanics, he has offered his qualified assistance to Salesian institutions and contributed to the foundation or development of many vocational training centers in the last 54 years.
Campo Grande, Brazil - September 2018 - About 600 young people, educators and members of the Salesian Family of the Campo Grande Province (BCG) met from 7 to 9 September for the Salesian Youth Day. Centered on the themes: "Thirst for the Infinite" and "Give me of this water", the event was full of joy, fraternity, spirituality and animation through artistic representations, celebrations and moments of prayer. Among those present: Fr Gildásio Mendes, BCG Provincial, and Fr Wagner Luis Galvão, Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry.
Santa Fe, Argentina - September 2018 - On 6 September, for the third consecutive year, the children's choir of the Salesian house in Santa Fe presented the show called "Don Bosco sings III, the tour." It is an innovative artistic proposal that transmits culture with an authentic tour, through choral and choreographic interpretation of songs and dances from various countries: Ghana, Hawaii, Japan, United States, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Argentina.
