Sumba, Indonesia – January 2024 – To celebrate and remember the feast of St John Bosco, the Salesian community in Sumba organised an important event that involved many young people. With the collaboration of the Prenovices and Aspirants, numerous activities were conceived, such as the football tournament that brought together the students and teachers of the Don Bosco Vocational School and Training Centre, Salesians, faithful and Salesian Brothers, together with the Aspirants and the Prenovices. This sports tournament was an opportunity to promote fellowship among young people. Those present then took part in other games, a treasure hunt and recreational activities and dedicated themselves to social activities, such as cleaning the beach. The celebrations ended with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Ignatius Herianto, attended by the young people and children from the Weepangali Oratory, members of ADMA, FMA and many faithful.

Boroko, Port Moresby – January 2024 – The Don Bosco Technological Institute (DBTI), Boroko, joined fifty-two other Catholic schools belonging to the archdiocese of Port Moresby at the parish church of St Joseph, Boroko, for the commissioning of teachers on Friday, 26 January. The programme began with welcoming greetings from the Secretary of Catholic Education, Ms Paula Bomai, followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Staff from St Joseph's International Catholic College led the beautiful liturgy and procession, along with Jubilee Catholic Secondary School. During his homily, the principal celebrant, the Archbishop of Port Moresby, Cardinal Sir John Ribat, encouraged teachers to face the challenges that help them grow, and to help students become better citizens.

Nairobi,Kenya – January 2024 – As is now an annual tradition, SAFCAM (Salesian Formation Centre Africa-Madagascar) has organised formation seminars for the new Rectors of Salesian communities in the Africa-Madagascar Region. The first session took place from 8 to 15 January, at the Don Bosco Youth Educational Services (DBYES) centre in Nairobi and was attended by nine English-speaking Rectors from the AFM Vice-Province and the AFE and ANN Provinces. Subsequently, from 19 to 26 January, the second session was held in the same venue, in which the Francophone Rectors of the Region participated. Eleven new Rectors from four Provinces and Vice-Provinces participated in this second meeting: AFC, AGL, ANG and MDG. The participants studied the Rectors Manual and other documents and shared their experiences, under the guidance of Fr Camiel Swertvagher and Gerald Umoh, respectively Director and Deputy Director of SAFCAM, who led both sessions.

Santa Cruz, Bolivia – 31 January 2024 - The Salesians in Bolivia began the Muyurina Educational City (Ciudad Educativa Muyurina in Spanish), in the city of Montero, on the occasion of the celebration of the liturgical memory of St John Bosco. The Salesians keep Don Bosco's charism alive thorugh a loving education of young people. This charism has taken concrete form with the start of the construction of the Muyurina Educational City, a project dedicated to knowledge, teaching and integral formation, designed to accompany the different educational stages: pre-school, primary, secondary, technical and university. The Muyurina Educational City will host about 10,000 students in an ecosystem that integrates nature with knowledge and architecture with technology, generating a productive movement towards the development of the integrated north of Santa Cruz. Fr Líder Justiniano, Superior of the Salesian Province of Bolivia (BOL), presided over the Eucharist, followed by the acts of representation together with Fr Marcelo Escalante, Director General of the Salesian work in Muyurina. The Feast of Don Bosco was attended by municipal and departmental authorities, teachers and administrators, students and parents who are part of this dream that is becoming a reality.

Lahore, Pakistan – January 2024 - On Friday, 12 January all the staff from Don Bosco Lahore Technical and Youth Centre met to better prepare for the feast of Don Bosco, planning the activities and distributing the tasks to each member. The activities began on Saturday 20 January in the main hall where the students gathered to watch the screening of a film about Don Bosco. On 22 January, the students and teachers gathered on the sports field to begin the Novena of Don Bosco, where every day, a teacher or a member of the Salesian Family, presented and explored an aspect of the figure of Don Bosco. On Monday 29 January after the Novena, the Don Bosco Olympics began, a series of outdoor games in honour of Don Bosco. Finally, on Wednesday 31 January, the Holy Mass in honour of Don Bosco was celebrated, presided over by the Bishop of Hyderabad, Bishop Samson Shukardin. In addition to the Salesians from Quetta, the celebration was also attended by staff, teachers, students and members of the Salesian Family, as well as some representatives of the local clergy from the Archdiocese of Lahore and Sisters of various Religious Congregations. After the mass, there was a performance prepared by the students.

Melbourne, Australia, 2 February 2024 – It was a ‘family affair’ in so many ways: the installation of the new Salesian Provincial of the Australia-Pacific Province, Fr Peter Hoang, brought together Salesians and Salesian Family members from across the continent and the Pacific, many members of Fr Peter’s own family, as well as very many Vietnamese friends and parishioners, and a special visitor from Timor Leste in the person of Fr Anacleto Pires SDB, who represented the Rector Major and the Regional Councillor in the installation ceremony, witnessing Fr Peter’s acceptance of his new mandate, and his profession of faith.
