Melbourne, Australia – March 2024 – Rector, Vice-rectors and members of the Pacific Delegation from communities in New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa and Australia gathered at the Salesian Province of Australia-Pacific (AUL) Rectors meeting. The event, which takes place in Ascot Vale, in the Salesian Formation Community at Clifton Hill, began with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Provincial, Fr Peter Hoang. During his homily, drawing on the readings of the day, Fr Hoang drew a parallel between the flow of water as a source of life and hope and the potential for great results of Salesian work in AUL Province. He encouraged the Salesians to imagine their communities as sources of animation and optimism where the Salesian spirit, the charism of Don Bosco, flourishes and grows in unity in Christ. He urged the Salesians to bring grace and life to those around them through the mission of Don Bosco. Salesians must commit to being a visible image of Christ for young people in various settings, such as youth centres, parishes and retreat centres, Don Bosco Camp Centres and Salesian schools. In these settings, Salesians are called to embody the qualities of love, compassion, and guidance that Jesus exemplified during his ministry. The meeting was also a great opportunity for the young Salesians who are currently in Clifton Hill to meet other confreres from the various communities.

Starting with visits to the main European institutions and the European Economic and Social Committee, and guests of the "Meet the Champions of Excellence" event, young people had the opportunity to learn about the EU's internal skills and mechanisms through interactive experiences where they could immerse themselves in the work of a European parliamentary committee. Subsequently, the group also had the opportunity to meet several representatives of European civil society: Don Bosco Youth-Net, BoscoBase, Don Bosco International, European Centre for Volunteering, European Youth Forum, a delegation of the European Parliament's communication team, touching and discussing current and concrete issues for their future together.
