(ANS – Santiago) – “I believe that when the Head of State, on behalf of the State and the country, asks for public forgiveness to indigenous peoples, and especially this time to the Mapuche people, for the shortcomings in the last 150 years, this is a gesture and a sign that must be considered in all its greatness, and has to do with the policy of recognition”. With these words Mgr. Hector Vargas, SDB, Bishop of Temuco, Member of the Commission for the Mapuche cause at the dialogue table for Araucania, commented on the intervention of Chile's President, Michelle Bachelet, about the expected "Araucanía Plan."

(ANS - Vatican City) - The Holy See Press Office today announced that Holy Father Francis appointed the Salesian Fr Antônio de Assis Ribeiro of 'São Domingos Sávio' Province of Brazil-Manaus (BMA) as the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará, Brazil, assigning him the bishopric seat of Babra.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.
