RMG - General Councilor for Youth Ministry leads meeting of "Don Bosco Tech" from all over the world
Rome, RMG - September 2021 - The "Don Bosco Tech India", "Don Bosco Tech Africa" and "Don Bosco Tech ASEAN" met on September 18, online to foster ideas and proposals on how to strengthen the “global umbrella” under the leadership of the Youth Ministry Department. During the meeting, Fr Miguel Ángel Garcia Morcuende, General Councilor for Youth Ministry, praised the Directors of the "Don Bosco Techs" for having carried out various initiatives aimed at vulnerable young people in the midst of the pandemic. Also at the meeting were present: Fr Patrick Anthonyraj, a member of the Youth Ministry Department, and the executive directors of each "Don Bosco Tech" - Fr George Mathew (DBT India), Fr Dindo Virtug (DBT ASEAN) and Fr George TJ (DBT Africa). Participants meet every three months to develop a common identity between all the Salesian Technical /Professional Education and Vocational Training Centers, and to exchange and share skillsets and best practices of each region.
(ANS - Rome) - "Responsibility" is the main theme of the new video of "CaglieroLIFE". Its part of the series of videos promoted by the Missions Department and linked to the Salesian intention of the month.
(ANS - Rome) - On the threshold of the year 2021, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, invited the entire Salesian Family to revive the virtue of hope, and he did so through the traditional message of the Strenna, entitled: “Moved by hope. Behold, I am making all things new” (Rev 21,5). The expression reflects Don Bosco's profound spirit of faith based on the ever faithful, creator and provident God, involved in the salvation of humanity. But it was also a response to the difficult world situation deriving from the Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected, and still affects, millions of people and has highlighted many other emergencies in the world, which which directly affect the poorer young people.
(ANS - Rome) - Hundreds of videos from all over the world have been submitted in less than two months, with extra requests for participation from pre-adolescents to adults. There is a growing and contagious enthusiasm surrounding the “Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival” (DBGYFF), which is already achieving fully its first objective, of igniting that positive spark of hope in the young people, which in turn can set ablaze the whole world on fire. This being the reason, the organizers of the first global Salesian film festival have decided to extend the deadline for submission of entries.
(ANS - Rome) - Thanks to the joint work between the Missions and Youth Ministry Departments, and the initiative of several lay collaborators in the Salesian Mission, that the Salesian Mission Volunteer Service Advisory Board has come to life (SMVS). It’s a structure dedicated to supporting the collaboration and enrichment of the Salesian Volunteer Mission Service throughout the Salesian Congregation.
(ANS – Rome) – The Social Communication (SC) Department kicked off its School of Formation in East Asia and Oceania Region (EAO) with more than 60 SC Delegates, Salesians of Don Bosco, Lay, and young people as participants. The nearly 3-hour session was held on the 15th September at 7am EST (3.00pm PNG time - 1pm Manila).

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Spain – 33rd Edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature: Here Are the Winners
(ANS – Madrid) – The 33rd edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature has been awarded to Beatriz Giménez de Ory (Madrid, 1972) for her novel Tres niños tristes y medio unicornio (Three Sad Children and Half a Unicorn) and David Lozano (Zaragoza, 1974) for his novel La cacería (The Hunt).

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
