(ANS – Rome) – On 22 November 2020 Pope Francis called for a relaunch of the celebration of WYD in the particular Churches. He announced that this celebration which has been traditionally held on Palm Sunday, starting in 2021 will be held on the Sunday of the Solemnity of Christ the King.
(ANS - Rome) - The Intermediate Session of the General Council is underway from 3 to 13 October 2021 at the Salesian Headquarters, Rome, which sees the in-person participation of the Rector Major, his Vicar, and the Sector Councilors. Just as it was last spring and to make up for the time lost due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the course for the New Provincials Provincials is also being held along side-by-side with the participation of seven Provincials from three Continents.
(ANS - Rome) – The funeral mass of Fr. Giuseppe Nicolussi, SDB (1938-2021), presided by the Rector Major F.r Ángel Fernández Artime, took place yesterday, 1st October, in the Sacred Heart Basilica, Rome. The funeral ceremony was well attended by many Salesians in Rome. The live streaming also made it possible for many people from all over the world, to accompany the last journey and pay fitting homage to a Salesian who was much loved in the Congregation, and beyond.
(ANS - Rome) - The first World Council of "LEADS" of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) was held on 25 September 2021 at 2.30 pm (Rome) through the Zoom platform. This Council is made up of two young people and a Salesian from each Region. A total of 16 representatives from the Regions and three members of the Youth Ministry Department participated in the meeting.
(ANS - Rome) - On Friday 24 September, in the context of the Salesian School of Social Communication, the Africa-Madagascar Region inaugurated its participation in the School, via videoconference. The meetings, which will last until March 2022, foresee a broad participation by specialists and people employed in the field of communication.
(ANS - Rome) - On 24 September, Fr Gildasio Mendes, General Councilor for Social Communication, inaugurated the Salesian School of Social Communication of the South Asia Region, which took place online. Fr Mendes introduced the vision and objectives of the school, underlining how this initiates a significant stage for the Salesian Congregation.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Spain – 33rd Edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature: Here Are the Winners
(ANS – Madrid) – The 33rd edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature has been awarded to Beatriz Giménez de Ory (Madrid, 1972) for her novel Tres niños tristes y medio unicornio (Three Sad Children and Half a Unicorn) and David Lozano (Zaragoza, 1974) for his novel La cacería (The Hunt).

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
