(ANS – Rome) – Fr Enrico Mercado, known commonly as "Rico", a new priest from the Philippines and belonging to the Province of the Philippines North (FIN), has been sent as a new missionary to the Southern Africa Vice-Province (AFM). Following the example of the famous Salesian Fr John Lee, he feels happy to be led by the Spirit in this life project and wants to give the best of himself to young people and to God, through his missionary service.
(ANS – Rome) – The emphases that Pope Francis' latest encyclical, Dilexit Nos, offers are different. If a reader comes across paragraph 26, they will find an interesting connection with what Don Bosco did in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Rome, a task that cost him his life. The Pope quotes “Saint John Henry Newman took as his motto the phrase Cor ad cor loquitur, since, beyond all our thoughts and ideas, the Lord saves us by speaking to our hearts from his Sacred Heart.”
(ANS – Rome) – The 155th Salesian Missionary Expedition has assigned two Vietnamese Salesians to missionary work in Chile. Today we get to know the second of these missionaries, Fr Joseph Vu Tuan: "My biggest dream is to share the Gospel with everyone, especially with poor and abandoned teenagers", he declares.
(ANS – Rome) – The second missionary of the 155th Salesian Missionary Expedition from Timor-Leste is Elisio, sent as a missionary to Romania. Young as he is, he is already very clear about some things: "When we give more, we will receive more".
Rome, Italy – October 2024 – The course for English and Italian-speaking Provincial Secretaries, coordinated by Fr Guido Garino, Secretary of the General Council, concludes today, 24 October, at the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS). Over the course of the several days, the Secretaries, from almost 50 Provinces and Vice-Provinces, have had the opportunity to learn the fundamental contents for their assignment. In addition, they were able to meet some members of the Salesian Headquarters in Rome, including Fr Luis Botasso and Fr Jose Joseph of the Economers Office for financial matters; Fr Pier Fausto Frisoli, Procurator General for legal issues; and Salesian Brother Marco Bay, Director of the Central Salesian Archives and the Photographic Archive, for cataloguing and statistics. Fr Stefano Martoglio, Vicar of the Rector Major, spoke at the meeting on 23 October, establishing an interesting dialogue with the Provincial Secretaries focused on the different issues facing the Salesian Congregation in the near future, in view of GC29. Today, the Secretaries also had the opportunity to appreciate the beauties of Rome, visiting St Peter's Basilica.
(ANS – Rome) – Congolese Salesian Henri is one of the new Salesian missionaries destined to serve the young people in the Province of Southern Italy (IME). "We are children of a great dreamer, Don Bosco, and it is not wrong to have dreams and projects" he says full of missionary enthusiasm. "My dream is to go and proclaim Christ in my mission land, without any claim to convert others."

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.
