(ANS - Rome) - Yesterday, Monday, December 12, 2022, as part of the work of the General Council’s winter plenary session, the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, with the consent of his Council, appointed Fr. Bart Decancq as the new Provincial Superior of the "St. John Berchmans" Province of North Belgium and Holland (BEN).
(ANS - Rome) - A group of 30 journalists accredited to the Vatican Press Office and the Italian Foreign Press will be spending next weekend (Dec. 16-18) on a "Press Tour" in Turin, focusing on the central places where St. John Bosco worked. The group is organized by Fr. Giuseppe Costa, Secretary of the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, and co-spokesperson for the Congregation.
Professionally, it represents agencies such as Aleteia, SIR, AciStampa, AsiaNews; radio and TV stations such as Radio Cope (Spain), RAI, Radio Corallo, TeleDehon, Tv2000, Telenova, EWTN (USA); newspapers and magazines such as Famiglia Cristiana, Avvenire, Il Fatto Quotidiano, La Sicilia, Niedziela (Poland); and others such as New York’s La Voce. Salesian Communication is represented by the Director of the Salesian iNfo Agency - ANS, Fr. Harris Pakkam, and IME-Communication, Fr. Pierluigi Lanotte.
The journalists will depart by train from Rome to Turin-Valdocco where they will meet for a press conference Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, Don Bosco's 10th Successor, who has just returned from a series of international trips and meetings. They shall also visit the recently renovated and enriched Casa Don Bosco House Museum. On Saturday they will go to Colle Don Bosco Hill with an initial stop at the Church of Castelnuovo to see the Baptismal Font where Don Bosco became a Christian and then visit the Temple dedicated to him and the Missionary Museum. The tour ends on Sunday with a Mass at the Turin Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, mother and protector of Don Bosco, and those who look to his spiritual leadership.

(ANS - Rome) - As part of the General Council’s work, on Wednesday, December 7, the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, appointed Fr. Ademir Ricardo Cwendrych as the new Provincial of the "St. Pius X" Province of Brazil-Porto Alegre (BPA).

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
