(ANS - Rome) - In January, which culminates with the feast day of Don Bosco, it is a tradition in all Salesian houses and throughout the Salesian Family to approach the celebration of the Father and Teacher of Youth through various paths of preparation: from the more traditional and spiritual ones, such as the Novena of Don Bosco, to the more creative ones, which involve young people in the most diverse playful or artistic activities, with tournaments and festivals of all kinds. (ANS - Rome) - There is much excitement among the Salesian Family of Barakaldo, in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country in northern Spain, for the arrival this weekend of the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime. The reason for his visit is to pay homage - with Salesians, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, young people and their families - to the charism of Don Bosco rooted in that city, which over the years has been articulated through three major works, all of which are celebrating significant anniversaries this year.

Ángel Fernández Artime, with the consensus of the other members of the General Council, appointed Fr. Tarcízio António de Castro Morais as the next Provincial of the "St. Anthony" Province of the Salesians of Portugal and Cape Verde (POR).
(ANS - Rome) - The countdown to the Days of Spirituality of the Salesian Family (SFSD) 2023 has by now reached the dimension of hours and minutes: from tomorrow, Thursday, January 12, until Sunday, January 15, about 300 members of this great religious family meet in Valdocco with the Rector Major and the principal leaders of a good part of the 32 groups of the Salesian Family, to share spirituality, pray together and reflect on the 2023 Strenna: "AS THE YEAST IN TODAY'S HUMAN FAMILY. The Lay Dimension of the Family of Don Bosco." At the same time, many more members of the Salesian Family will participate in the world event thanks to the live digital links from Valdocco and the specific online program organized in some of the 7 Salesian regions.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
