RMG – Fr. Bart Decancq appointed as new BEN Provincial

(ANS - Rome) - Yesterday, Monday, December 12, 2022, as part of the work of the General Council’s winter plenary session, the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, with the consent of his Council, appointed Fr. Bart Decancq as the new Provincial Superior of the "St. John Berchmans" Province of North Belgium and Holland (BEN).

Born Nov. 15, 1959, in Roeselare, Belgium, Fr. Bart Decancq served his novitiate between 1979 and 1980 in Oud-Heverlee, where he also made his first vows on Sept. 7, 1980, his perpetual vows, on Aug. 1, 1987. He was ordained a priest on April 21, 1990.

He served as Vicar of the Groot-Bijgaarden work from 1994 to 1997; he was Councilor from 1997 to 2008, and Dean from 2003 to 2008 at the Kortrijk work; he also served as Councilor in the communities of Hechtel from 2008 to 2015, and Oud-Heverlee from 2015 until now.

Since 2015 he has been Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry - Salesian Schools Sector; since 2019 he has also been Provincial Delegate for Social Communication; in 2020 he also became Provincial Vicar.
