(ANS - Rome) – At the beginning of Lent, the Formation Department of the Salesian Congregation released two important publications on Salesian meditation. Below is the letter with which Fr Ivo Coelho, General Councilor for Formation, presents the two texts to the Provincials and Provincial Delegates for Formation.

Salesian Communications Delegates from all of our Salesian Regions have made very important and innovative choices for communication through the communication plan for their Region.
Rome, RMG - February 2021 - The second phase of the annual meeting with the Youth Ministry Delegates of the Africa-Madagascar Region took place online on February 15 and 16. After the opening prayer, Fr Miguel Ángel García Morcuende, General Councilor for Youth Ministry, introduced the theme "Education in affection and love". Subsequently, the Delegates worked in groups and presented the results in the assembly. On the second day, the summary of the questionnaire was presented and dialogue was opened in the assembly. Subsequently, the roadmap of the Salesian Youth Movement in the different realities was presented, and the Delegates were encouraged to accompany the young. Once the information was communicated, the meeting ended with a Hail Mary.
Rome, RMG - February 2021 - The meeting of the Delegates for the Youth Ministry of America took place on 15 and 16 February. The appointment was organized by the Youth Ministry Department, led by Fr Miguel Ángel García Morcuende, General Councilor for Youth Ministry, and by Fr Rafael Bejarano Rivera, Coordinator for Social Works of the Interamerica and South American Regions The study theme - “Education in love: affectivity and sexuality. How to accompany young people” - is part of a process of reflection, already started in the Salesian Congregation, on the urgency of responding with courage and competence to young people's needs. In digital format, the meeting served to provide a consultation on this issue by the whole Region, which was called upon to contribute to the construction of a solid reflection by all. Practical suggestions were given to activate and strengthen the various pastoral educational environments of the Salesian works.
Rome, RMG - February 2021 - Chaired by Bro. Jean Paul Muller, Economer General of the Salesian Congregation, the course for 28 Provincial Bursars, appointed in the second half of 2019 and 2020, is taking place online from 15 to 18 February, a formation course that allows one to learn about the Economer General's Office and all his staff. It features interactive theoretical sessions, both in Italian and English, and with support in French and Spanish. The topics covered concern the identity and role of the Provincial Economer, the Administration of the Congregation's Assets and the Organization of Planning and Development Offices (PDO), transparency, preparation of financial statements and reports, and the presentation of the new Web Portal of the Economer General's Office. In the last two days, there will be a review and an in-depth study of the topics covered.
(ANS - Rome) - The meeting of the Salesian School of America of the Interprovincial Conference of Bolivarian Nations (CINAB) and the Andean Region took place online from 3 to 5 February 2021, and included the countries of: Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.

(ANS - RMG) - Just a few days before the beginning of the 29th General Chapter (GC29) of the Salesian Congregation, Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Councillor for the Africa-Madagascar Region and Moderator of GC29, recounts in detail, through an articulate interview, the work preceding and underlying this responsibility, indicating the spirit that will animate it and the attitudes and conditions to make it truly a Cenacle in which the Holy Spirit can act, for the benefit of the Congregation, the Salesian mission and the youth of the world.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Spain – 33rd Edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature: Here Are the Winners
(ANS – Madrid) – The 33rd edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature has been awarded to Beatriz Giménez de Ory (Madrid, 1972) for her novel Tres niños tristes y medio unicornio (Three Sad Children and Half a Unicorn) and David Lozano (Zaragoza, 1974) for his novel La cacería (The Hunt).

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
