Tunisia – Salesian Youth Day: A Celebration of Hope and Unity

24 February 2025

(ANS – Menzel Bourguiba) – On Friday, February 7, young people from the oratories of Salesian Family schools in Tunisia gathered for a special event: Salesian Youth Day. Hosted at the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians school in Menzel Bourguiba, near Bizerte, the day brought together Salesian animators, members of the Salesian Family, and friends of the mission, in the presence of Archbishop Nicolas Lhernould of Tunis.

This event provided a unique opportunity for animators from Menzel Bourguiba, La Marsa, La Manouba, and Tunis to meet, strengthen their bonds, and deepen their commitment to friendship and service. More than 90 participants arrived with enthusiasm and high expectations for this day of sharing and growth.

The day began with a warm welcome carefully prepared by the organizers in Menzel Bourguiba, setting a friendly and inviting tone. The atmosphere quickly became lively with dance and choreographed performances led by the Menzel Bourguiba Bosco Youth (MBY) group, breaking the ice and dispelling any shyness among attendees.

The morning continued with interactive games designed to foster connection and communication, paving the way for meaningful exchanges. The heart of the event was a training session centered on an essential theme: "Hope – How Can We Contribute?". Divided into small groups, participants shared their ideas, reflections, and personal experiences.

"It was incredible to see everyone so engaged. Each person brought a unique perspective, and everyone listened with empathy and an open mind. There was a deep respect for each other’s ideas, which led to stimulating and constructive discussions," shared one of the animators.

Another highlight of the day was the dance performances prepared by each group. Confidence, joy, and a sense of belonging were tangible as participants freely expressed their talents, supported by cheers and encouragement from their peers.

As the event drew to a close, the traditional group photo captured the energy, unity, and spirit of brotherhood that defined the gathering. The final moments were filled with emotion, a mix of joy for the shared experience and sadness at parting ways. Yet, everyone left with the feeling of having lived an unforgettable experience and with the desire to reunite soon.

More than just a gathering, Salesian Youth Day was a true catalyst for inspiration. The discussions, shared ideas, and commitments made will continue to guide each participant in their personal journey and in their mission to support young people.

"The enthusiasm and determination shown throughout this event prove that together we can build a future where faith and hope are not just words but realities. Until we meet again, may the spirit of this day continue to inspire us all," concluded another participating animator in Menzel Bourguiba.
