(ANS - Rome) - The second day of the "SDB Change Congress," yesterday, Tuesday, Sept. 20, was an intense day of interventions and appointments, which began with the greeting of Card. João Braz de Aviz, prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. In his address, the cardinal also reviewed the Church's magisterium in relation to the tasks and roles of the religious administrator/economer, which he then summarized in three phrases: finalizing every resource to the mission; accounting for choices, acts and results; and ensuring that assets are also protected civilly and that canonical and civil norms are respected.
(ANS - Castelnuovo Don Bosco) – Today, in the second interview with the Salesians departing with the 153rd Salesian Missionary Expedition we meet Roger Mbayo Mukadi, a Salesian priest, Congolese, 35 years old, radically belonging to the "Mary Most Holy Assumption" Province of Central Africa (ACF). With previous missionary service experience behind him at Palabek, the refugee center operating in Uganda, he is now set to work with and for young people in Venezuela.
(ANS - Rome) - Yesterday, Monday, Sept. 19, at the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) in Rome, the "SDB Change Congress," the event attended by 250 people including Provincial Economers, Heads of Planning and Development Offices (PDOs), Mission Offices, Salesian NGOs and international organizations, began. After an initial welcoming moment, in which Congress tablets and gadgets were handed out, members of the Don Bosco Network and Mission Offices in attendance met to discuss projects and meet with Economers and PDO Managers.
(ANS - Castelnuovo Don Bosco) - Next Sunday, September 25, the solemn and evocative rite of sending off the departing members of the Salesian Missionary Expedition will be repeated for the 153rd time. As this appointment approaches, a series of interviews with the Salesians who will receive the Missionary Cross on that occasion from the hands of the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, begins today on ANS. Today inaugurating that journey is young Korean Paul Hoon Kang, destined for the Salesian presence in Mongolia.
Catania, Italy - September 2022 - The Salesian charism on Sicilian soil once again manifests itself as aggregative, appealing and an opportunity to regenerate under the common fatherhood of God reflected in St. John Bosco. Attracted in this case were family members of the Salesians, who, from various parts of Sicily, gathered last September 3 at the Colonia Don Bosco beach at the Playa in Catania for a day of formation, fraternity, and relaxation. This year the theme of holiness was the backdrop for the customary meeting, which began with a moment of reflection on some figures of "saints next door," held by the Provincial Vicar, Fr. Franco di Natale; it continued with the renewal of vows of eight Salesians during the Eucharistic celebration; and concluded with the sharing of lunch and an afternoon of relaxation. The time of the initial greetings and renewal, experienced with feelings of praise and thanksgiving to God for the gift of vocation, allowed family members to feel part of one true family with a common goal: to be parents, brothers and sisters of young Salesians on a journey of service toward God's will.
Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Italy - September 2022 - On September 10, all the youth of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) who participated in the Animator Camps and the SYM Pilgrimage this summer, gathered at Colle Don Bosco to share a day together before the start of the school year. Accompanied and guided by the animators, the young people took up, divided into age groups, the formative themes addressed during the camp, alternating between moments of reflection, desert and sharing. During the day, full of activities, games, dances, and lunch together, the young people met their friends again and made friends with new people. In the afternoon they participated in the perpetual professions of some Salesians and at the end of the evening, Sister Emma Bergandi, FMA Provincial, addressed a message to them. Fr. Alberto Goia, Delegate for Youth Ministry of the Piedmont and Aosta Valley Special Circumscription (ICP), finally thanked all the animators and organizers of the day: "You didn't know it, but among the 500 and more young people who were enrolled there were some with different physical, psychological or spiritual difficulties... the accompanying people thanked us because none of them felt excluded."
