(ANS – Rome) - The Institute of Salesian History (ISS), Rome, organized the presentation of the book by Prof. Thomas Anchukandam sdb, titled, «Theological Formation of Salesians in India with Special Reference to Kristu Jyoti College, Bangalore (1967-1976)» (LAS, 2022) in the Sala Juan Vecchi, Pontifical Salesian University (UPS), Rome, at 3 p.m. on 21 April 2023.
Turin, Italy - April 2023 - As per tradition, on April 25, the Salesians of Piedmont, Aosta Valley and Lithuania (ICP) gathered together to experience as a family the Provincial Feast. This year, they chose to celebrate it at the Salesian house in Turin-Crocetta, in honor of 100 years since its founding. For this, the Young Theology Students and the Crocetta community organized a simple moment of theater and entertainment, in which they recalled the history of the work and the Salesians who have passed through it. The Provincial Feast also provided an opportunity to remember some special anniversaries of the confreres (so-called "jubilees"): in particular, the Provincial community was able to celebrate Fr Beppe Gianolio (80 years of profession and 70 years of priesthood), Fr Ferdinando Bergamelli (70 years of profession), Fr Renzo Virano (70 years of profession and 60 years of priesthood), and Fr Gian Paolo Ferino (50 years of priesthood).
Turin, Italy-April 2023 - Last April 18, at the Salesian Theological Studentate in Turin-Crocetta, the Curatorium, the gathering of Salesian superiors co-responsible for the interprovincial and, in this case, International formation house, was held. Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, Councilor for the Mediterranean Region, presided over the meeting, and nine Superiors from Salesian Provinces participated: Fr Leonardo Mancini (ICP); Fr Igino Biffi (INE); Fr Giuliano Giacomazzi (ILE); Fr Stefano Aspettati (ICC); Fr Peter Timko (SLK); Fr Marko Kosnik (SLO); Fr Martin Hobza (CEP); Fr Tihomir Sutalo (CRO); and Fr Reinhard Gesing (GER). Also present were the ICP Provincial Economer, Fr Giorgio De Giorgi, and the Dean of the Faculty of Theology from UPS in Rome, Fr Antonio Escudero. Also attending from the community were the Director, Fr Marek Chrzan, the Dean, Fr Cristian Besso, and the Economer, Br. Jose Trigona. The agenda included the Director's report on the progress of the community's educational life, the Headmaster's report on school aspects, and the Economer's report on economic issues. All these issues provoked fruitful discussion among those present, with an attempt to seek solutions and proposals for continuous improvement. There was also room in the day's program for a meeting of the Provincials with young Salesians from their respective Provinces to discuss the issues presented.
(ANS - Castelnuovo Don Bosco) - The last day of the International Meeting for those responsible for the Salesian Bulletin was dedicated to visiting the places of Don Bosco, namely Chieri and Becchi, at Colle Don Bosco.
Turin, Italy - The Missionary Mandate for the future departures of the Pathway in the Heart of the World 2023, of the Piedmont and Aosta Valley Special Circumscription (ICP), was held on April 16. The Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by Fr. Leonardo Mancini, ICP Provincial, was attended by all the youth, animators and educators who were experiencing SYM DAY at that very same time, and the priests accompanying them. For the twenty young people and their companions who decided to go on mission, the Missionary Mandate is a very meaningful event, as it is a launching and a blessing for themselves and for whoever will be on each one's path. During the handing over of the missionary cross, each of the departed felt the affection and support of all the young people present and now they are ready to leave for this year's two destinations, Kenya and Uganda.
(ANS - Rome) - For some years now, the experiences of Life in Common of the Salesians with young people have been spreading in the homes of the Central Italy Circumscription (ICC), as a special occasion of fraternity and family spirit among adolescents and young people with Religious Communities and Pastoral Educational Communities, expressing the desire to harmoniously join the spirituality of daily life and the word of God, faith and life. This is a journey, a simple sign of the times that the Church has accepted and that for several years already has been querying many dioceses, many territories and sees various experiences that revitalize its domestic soul, called to be with Jesus.
