SPECIAL REPORTS

(ANS - Cremisan) - In the Mediterranean Region that the Salesians decided to establish in 2014, and which includes the Provinces of Italy, Spain, Portugal and the Middle East (MOR), the latter is assuming a growing centrality in the strategies of the Congregation, so much so that the others are active in helping it in the growth and strengthening of its activities. For example, four young missionaries were made available to the Provincial last year to give more vigor to the Salesian activities planned in the Province countries: Israel, Palestine, Syria, Egypt and Lebanon.

(ANS - Rome) - It is said that weapons are not cleaned in wartime. In the silence of this war we are experiencing, the one against Covid-19, we desire the hustle and bustle of our children, the activities of our works. Now we complain about the lack of protagonists because we need students, teachers, educators, and a community in action. A few weeks ago we did not imagine that time would stop in our educational works. We thought that the absence would only be for a short period of time, however ... it's already been many long weeks.

(ANS - Madrid) - Suddenly, we found ourselves tremendously vulnerable and fragile. Covid-19 requires us to take measures that prevent us from even getting or being close to others; confinement is still one of the most recommended measures for its effectiveness against spreading the virus, even making it mandatory.

(ANS – Rome) – There is widespread admiration for the massive scale at which the Salesian Family has responded so promptly to help the communities affected by Covid-19. Salesian Family members have helped them to deal with the negative consequences of the lockdown that is in place today in almost all countries of the world. But there is another side to the story that often goes un-noticed. It is at times taken for granted that Salesians have a massive stockpile of resources that are available, at the snap of a finger, to aid people in need. Nothing could be further from the reality.
