(ANS – Caracas) – For 30 years, the Asociación Civil Juventud y Trabajo (Civil Association for Youth and Work) has played a fundamental role in the formation and support of young Venezuelans. Founded by the Salesians of Don Bosco, this organisation was a beacon of hope in a context of growing school dropout and violence in the country.
(ANS - Vatican City) - On the morning of Friday, May 3, 2024, Pope Francis warmly welcomed the members of the National Confederation for Upskilling in Technical Skills (CONFAP) to the Vatican, marking the commemoration of its 50th anniversary. Among the attendees were representatives from the Salesian community, including delegations from the National Salesian Centre for Upskilling in Technical Skills (Centro Nazionale Opere Salesiane - Formazione Aggiornamento Professionale - CNOS-FAP) and the Salesian Italian Centre for Training of Women in Technical Skills (Formazione Professionale - CIOFS-FP). Their presence brought together hundreds of individuals, including students, educators, trainers, administrative staff, and management personnel from various centers.
(ANS – Rome) – The Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, will be on an animation visit to Uganda, precisely in the camp for refugees of Palabek, from Sunday 5 to Tuesday 7 May 2024. It is a trip with a clear evocative message, in one of the last international commitments of Cardinal Á.F. Artime as Rector Major. The Rector Major will then continue his visit to other African Salesian presences.
(ANS– Lubumbashi) – The first Scientific Days of the Don Bosco University of Lubumbashi (UDBL) were held on 25 and 26 April 2024,, focusing on "Responsible Ecology: Crisis Management and the Challenge of Development in the Democratic Republic of the Congo". The event took place in the large grounds of the Salama building, where the Faculty of Computer Science of the UDBL is based.
(ANS – Ljubljana) – In the Marian month in Slovenia there is a widespread so-called "Šmarnice" Marian devotion, so named because it takes its name from the flowers in May, the "lilies of the valley". It is a devotion that includes a short account for each day of the month about a character or an event in relation to the Blessed Virgin Mary and a task to be put into practice for the listeners. This year this devotion is enriched with a particular Salesian touch.
(ANS – Rome) – Saturday, 4 May 2024, at 2:00 pm (UTC+2), all Salesian Cooperators in the world are invited to a celebratory online event that is part of the three-year preparation for the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Association of Salesian Cooperators. It will be a moment to retrace the journey made so far and start the second year around 2026.
