(ANS - Linares) - Linares is a province of Chile located in the Seventh Region of Maule. It is a predominantly agricultural area. The city of Linares, the provincial capital, has high rates of poverty, which is evident from the poor quality of life of some vulnerable families. At Linares the Salesians run the Don Bosco Salesian Agricultural School which is taking part this year in the "Don Bosco Solidarity Circuit”.

(ANS - Lahore) - The Salesian centre in Lahore consists of a technical school and an oratory and youth centre. At the end of October, the month of the Rosary, the students and teachers organized a living Rosary. It was a very interesting experience much appreciated by all present who participated with devotion and respect.

(ANS - Cap-Haïtien) – Saturday 5 November, while the Salesians were busy in the South helping and comforting a few hundred families affected by Hurricane Matthew, another disaster touched the North, particularly the second city of Haiti, Cap-Haïtien, which was damaged by sudden and violent flooding.

(ANS - Buenos Aires) - The "2016 World Report on Drugs" was released recently and the data are alarming. "It is estimated that one adult out of 20, about 250 million people aged between 15 and 64 years, have consumed drugs at least once. (...) 29 million people suffer from ailments related to drugs, but only one in six receives some kind of treatment." The National Pastoral Commission on Drugs, coordinated by Fr José María "Pepe" Di Paola, has asked the Argentinean authorities to declare a "national dependency emergency" to prevent more young people dying because of drugs. They have cried "Enough!"

(ANS - Rome) – A new service aimed at young people between 10 and 16 years was opened recently at the Salesian Don Bosco Boys’ Town (Borgo Ragazzi Don Bosco) in Rome.  It is a semi-residential community, a day care facility for children in difficult conditions, who are sent by the social services of the area. 

(ANS – Guwahati) – The 4th National Education Conference of The Don Bosco School Principals under the motto “Don Bosco: Transforming India through Education” was inaugurated on Friday, 4th November at 6:30 pm. Prof. Ashoke Dutta, Former Director, IIM Shillong, Father Fabio Attard SDB, General Councillor for Youth Ministry, Rome, and Mgrs. Thomas Menamparampil, Archbishop Emeritus of Guwahati, took part in.
