(ANS – Rome) – Yet again, the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians has experienced that many drops put together make a lovely puddle of water for more than one person to enjoy. In fact, on October 27, Mother Yvonne Reungoat was able to submit to Italian Caritas, earthquake section, the sum of 150,000 euro, fruit of the generosity from about thirty provinces, from the initiatives of some communities, and from various generous private benefactors.

(ANS - Rome) - On 4 March 2016 a group of armed men attacked the house of the Missionaries of Charity in Aden, Yemen, killing 16 people, including 4 Sisters.  At the time of the attack on the sisters’ house, an Indian Salesian priest, Fr Thomas Uzhunnalil, was present. As the hours passed it became clear that he had been abducted. Today, however, eight months later, we still have no definite news of him.

(ANS – Darjeeling) – Salesian College Sonada, established in 1938, launched its web radio on Friday 28th October 2016. The college is the first to launch a full-fledged web radio with 20 different programmes in the Nepali language. It is also the first Community/Campus Radio in West Bengal and entire northeast India to be run by a college.

On 29 October the meeting of the Presidents and Salesian Delegates of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco in Latin America commenced at the Pius XI Theological Institute in Sao Paulo.

(ANS - Rome) - The Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, is about to set out on another journey. From tomorrow Friday 4 November until next Tuesday, he will be visiting the Salesian Province of Mary Help of Christians in Slovakia, accompanied by his secretary, Fr Horacio López.

(ANS - Freetown) - Two years ago the World Health Organization declared that the Ebola outbreak in West Africa was over. The epidemic caused about 4,000 deaths and over 14,000 cases of infection. Two years later Sierra Leone has fallen into oblivion. This country experienced one of the longest and cruellest civil wars, and yet the Salesians have always remained close to the people and to young people.
