Four people from one family were killed following the collapse of a wall. Other people, seriously injured, were taken to hospital for medical treatment. According to the Haitian civil protection, ten people have died up to the present day. Meanwhile, the situation continues to deteriorate in the north of the country and the cities in that area are badly damaged since the flood hit hard.
It goes without saying that the situation is serious. The Salesian house in Cap-Haïtien, called "Fondation Vincent", now faces huge challenges. Nearly the whole building is below the water level, a part of the wall has fallen and several classrooms were flooded with water and mud. Nevertheless the Salesians were able to help and accommodate about fifty families from the surrounding areas who have had their homes destroyed or badly damaged.
