(ANS – Bangalore) – Fr Gildasio Mendes, the General Councillor for Social Communication, was at Visvadeep, Bangalore, from Saturday 26 October to Wednesday 30, 2024, to carry out the Extraordinary Visitation of the institute.

(ANS – Addis Ababa) – Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon and Ambassador Kristina Radej, along with a 12-member delegation, made a heartfelt visit to the Don Bosco Children’s home in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This gesture truly embodied Minister Fajon’s words, “Small country, but with a big heart,” as they prioritized the visit despite their brief one-day stay in Ethiopia.

(ANS – Rome) – The Institute of Catechetics (ICa) at the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS), dating back to the 1953/54 Academic Year at the then Pontifical Salesian Athenaeum based in Turin, celebrates its 70th year. In 2023, among the many ordinary and extraordinary initiatives, the online "Catechetica ed Educazione" magazine published several contributions that together recall the seventy years of life and activity of the ICa, in particular the last twenty years. Recalling the Conference on the occasion of the 60th (15-16 May 2015) focused on the theme of catechesis as communication in the digital age and the consequent paradigm shift, the  ICa now proposes a symposium on 8-9 November 2024, which intends to focus on the educational dimension of catechesis, for several linked and intertwined reasons.

(ANS – Lisbon) – On 23 and 24 October, Salesians in the St Anthony Province of Portugal organised a meeting for school leaders, teachers and psychologists, with addresses from some of the leading experts in the Portuguese educational system and several speakers related to the world of education and Vocational Training (VET).

(ANS – Beirut) – Salesians in Lebanon are assisting more than 2,000 displaced people from the south of the country, along with families affected by the war. "More than 275 families are receiving food, medicine and petrol/gasoline because the conflict has made them lose their jobs or because they are people in a serious situation of vulnerability," explain the Salesians who work in Lebanon.
