(ANS – Rome) - As is the case every 25 July, in the Spanish National Church of Santiago and Montserrat in Rome, a Mass was celebrated in honour of its patron saint, the Apostle James. This year the ceremony was presided over by Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco. In his homily, the Salesian cardinal warned of the "great temptation" that the world has had throughout history: power, which can be overcome through service and witness.

(ANS – Rome) – The summer plenary session of the General Council, the last chaired by Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime as Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation, closed on the morning of Friday 26 July 2024. The 10th Successor of Don Bosco, in the "Salesian Goodnight" offered to the community at Salesian Headquarters the previous evening, briefly illustrated the work carried out in almost two months of sessions, at the same time offering words of gratitude to all his collaborators and confreres.

(ANS – Rome) – The Advanced Formation Course for Salesian leaders in Europe, organised by the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) in Rome in collaboration with the Sector for Youth Ministry of the Salesian Congregation, will begin on 23 September.

(ANS – Belo Horizonte) – At the weekend of 19 to 21 July 2024, the St John Bosco Province of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, hosted the 14th Salesian Cooperators (ASC) Congress at the Salesian Institute in the city, Capital of the State of Minas Gerais. A total of about 370 Salesian Cooperators from the six ASC Provinces of Brazil took part, guided in their work by the World Coordinator of the ASC Association, Antonio Boccia, and also accompanied by the Central Delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family Secretariat, Fr Joan Lluís Playà.

(ANS – Bled) – Fifty-six years ago, the “Colloqui Salesiani” was held for the first time in Lyon, France. During a meeting of those responsible for forming the young Salesians in France and Belgium a year earlier, the question arose whether such a gathering could not be held on a large scale, on a European level, reflecting openly and critically on the Salesian heritage. It should be a meeting where Salesians, later also the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, lay collaborators and Salesian cooperators, reflected on the pedagogical, historical and spiritual theological legacy of Don Bosco. Since the meeting in 1968, many contemporary themes of Salesian pedagogy and spirituality have been studied.
