León, Spain – June 3rd, 2016 – The “Juan Soñador” School of Formation and Employment was inaugurated in León on June 3rd, in the presence of various public authorities, firms, representatives of the Salesians and the Rector of the School, Álvaro de la Puente. The School follows the “Juan Soñador School Program ”, which has the target of helping young people between 16 and 25 years of age who risk social exclusion, with three projects: socio-educative project, formative project and employment project. The program was born in 2015 from the “Juan Soñador” Foundation and the Salesians, and was financed with European funds by the municipalities of Castilla and León. Shillong, India – June 2016 – The Salesian school “St. Anthony’s College” of Shillong, belonging to the Province of Silchar (INS), reached the final match in the International tournament for the schools of South Asia and East Asia, that was held in Kunming in China from May 21st to 31st. “St. Anthony’s College” ranked second.
Ramos Mejía, Argentina – May 28th, 2016 – On May 28th, in the house of Ramos Mejía, the traditional pilgrimage of the Oratories of the Northern, Eastern and Southern zones of the city of Buenos Aires, was celebrated in honor of Mary Help of Christians. Thousands of young people participated in this event, on the theme “Mary is always with you”. The day was animated by a team of the oratories with games, sports, music and songs.
Oświęcim, Poland – June 5th, 2016 - On June 5th in Oświęcim, at the Sanctuary of mary Help of Christians, there was the annual encounter of past pupils and friends of the Salesian Institute of Oświęcim. Fr. Dariusz Bartocha, Provincial of PLS, presided over the Mass, during which the about 200 participants thanked - among other things - for all the significant events of this year: the 1050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland, the Year of Mercy, and the forthcoming World Youth Day in Cracow. The past Pupils reflected also on the next elections of the Provincial Presidency of the Association and of the Central Commission for Revision.
