Austria – SYM’s musical "One-way Street" debuts in Vienna
Vienna, Austria - October 2021 - On 9 October the musical “One-way Street”, written during the lockdown by six young people from the Austrian Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), made its debut in Vienna. The musical centers on the story of a teenager who runs away from home due to insecurity, bullying and the overly high expectations of her parents. After various vicissitudes, a social worker gives a positive transformation to the young girl’s life. The production team said they were very happy that the musical has finally gone on stage, after so many uncertainties and the lockdown period, during which it was often possible to rehearse only via videoconference. All the lyrics and music were written by 6 young people and around 30 boys and girls participated in the production. The direction of the musical was entrusted to Carina Baumgartner. A real Salesian priest, Fr Johannes Haas, is also cast in one of the roles. After the shows in Vienna, performances will follow in late October in Amstetten and Klagenfurt.
