The Salesian presence at the Synod on the Amazon

The Synod on the Amazon will be held from 6 to 27 October 2019. There are a total of 185 participants.
There will be 15 Salesians and 2 Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.

The first Salesian college outside Turin

The first college erected by Don Bosco, outside Turin, was that of Mirabello Monferrato.
On October 20, 1863, a college was opened which took the name of the Piccolo Seminario San Carlo.

Provincial Delegations

The Provincial Delegation is erected if within the framework of a Province, the Provincial cannot take adequate care of some local communities, for reasons of distance or for other reasons. He, with the consensus of his Council and with the approval of the Rector Major, can constitute a delegation. The superior is appointed by the provincial with the consensus of his council and the approval of the Rector Major (see Salesian Constitutions, art. 159).


With the inauguration of the Provincial Delegation of North Vietnam, the number of Provincial Delegations rises to 9.

The Salesians in Oceania

The work of the Salesians in Oceania began in 1922, with their arrival in Australia.
Today the Salesians are present in 6 countries of Oceania: Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Samoa.
Oceania is part of the East Asia-Oceania Region.
In Oceania there is the Salesian Province of Pacific Australia (AUL), which includes the Provincial Delegation of the Pacific led by Fr Petelo Vito Pau, and the Vice Province of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands (PGS).
